Very cool! Horses lend themselves to these gestural paintings more than any other animal, I think. And, after spending 12 years painting horses in exacting realism, loose, expressionist works such as this are almost all that appeal to my aesthetics anymore.

Equine art can easily walk the same path of the lighthouse or sunset painting: kitschy and contrived. No worries about that here!

Beautiful strokes and suggested form in this one, Casey. I enjoyed the recent photos from your studio, too - glad to hear things are productive there in eastern Washington.

I appreciate it, Brian. Things are finally springing up - a couple of perfect days and now I'll have to mow the lawn.

Coming from an equine artist, I appreciate it. Sonya - I can count on one hand the times I've drawn a horse. Don't know why I take that approach.

This one just galloped out of my imagination.

It's a Rothenberg/Klahn! A Klathenberg!
